Proper cleaning and rising of the outdoor and indoor coils are a big part of ac maintenance.

As a small business owner of Corman and Sons A/C and Heating, who’s personally been in the field of HVAC services for most of my life, I’ve just about seen it all and heard it all, when it comes to ac maintenance and the need for service.  Growing up with a Father who is an air conditioning serviceman aka AC Tech, he has shared so many scary and funny stories about his discoveries when cleaning, servicing an air conditioner, and when crawling and swimming in the itchy insulation in customers attics, yikes!  LOL  Back in the day during the 1970’s and 1980’s things were different than they are today especially when it comes to air conditioning equipment and how much it has evolved. For instance, a seer rating, what is a SEER rating?  Well, it’s a seasonal energy efficiency rating that determines how much energy your residential central air conditioners are saving and or wasting, or in other words, it’s inefficiency.  Why is this important you may ask yourself?  Well, today we all are concerned now about our energy usage and how we as consumers can help our planet by not being wasteful and caring about what we use and how we can save, right?   Well if you answered yes, then you are like most of our customers who call in every day to set up and schedule their seasonal ac tune up for Spring like clockwork.  Why do we call it preventative maintenance?  Preventative maintenance for our a/c units is just that.  We are getting prepared for our hot sizzling summer, knowing that our air conditioners need to be in optimal tip top shape to withstand the scorching temperatures, and so we are not left without cool air when we need it most!  Like on the fourth of July when everyone is visiting you at your house, and the A/C stops working!  Ahhhhhh!!! That is what most homeowners are thinking about when Spring hits and the temperature starts to rise.  They really want to prevent this sort of thing from happening, because we have all been there before one time or another and it feels terrible.  Then again, there are a lot of us who are just not thinking about it, for example, “out of sight, out of mind” yeah it happens, we take it for granted that our ac unit is just going to work, and we are not trying to neglect our systems but in fact, that is what we are doing in a way.  Many of our customers think it’s only been six months to a year since the last ac tune up, when in fact, the last time we performed any type of service was almost 2 or 3 years ago, and that just goes to show you how quickly the time flies!  Don’t feel bad, we all do it,  we just simply forget.  This is a huge issue with a lot of us who have so many other things to worry about, and it just doesn’t cross our minds until our central ac isn’t functioning, and we are hot and sweaty.  Our air conditioners are tucked away in the backyard or on the roof and we don’t see it everyday, but we just know that it has to work when we go to the ac thermostat and set our temperature, praying it will cool down!  Does this sound familiar?  Did you know a frog or a snake who like to make homes in our a/c condensers outside can stop your air conditioner from cooling in a matter of seconds if they crawl into the electrical components?  We see this all the time, and proper maintenance is a good way to keep these critters out avoiding these types of interruptions.  So let’s get back to the subject of why maintenance agreements with your local air conditioning company, like Corman and Sons is a great way to stay on task.  For instance, isn’t great to have a comfort team who is looking out for your best interest who helps you maintain a great system?  Yes, we all need a helping hand, and the team at Corman and Sons is always here for you when you need us most!  As a Trane Comfort Specialist, we also encourage you to print out a Maintenance Checklist for your home, visit the Trane website for more details.  Here is the link so you can get started! https://www.trane.com/residential/en/for-owners/maintenance-tips/.  Don’t wait till it breaks to call!  Sign up for maintenance and join our comfort club, so we can keep you on task and send you reminders when it’s time to service your hvac system, either annually or bi-annually.  Our comfort coordinators are ready to serve and answer all of your questions regarding the different maintenance programs we offer.  Give us a call or text us today at (352)343-8578 so we can get you started on your comfort journey with the crew who cares!
